A Kettering bus driver has been recognised as his company’s ‘greenest’ because of his environmentally-conscious driving.
Andy Craxford, a bus driver with Stagecoach for more than ten years, was presented with a prize for by bosses.
To help identify the top performing driver at their Kettering depot, Stagecoach uses a hi-tech eco-driver monitoring system on the dashboard, which measures the driver’s performance when accelerating, braking, cornering and idling.
The information can then be used to help ensure a smooth, safe and comfortable journey for passengers, as well as helping to reduce fuel consumption, carbon emissions and wear and tear on the vehicles.
Andy said: “I think the eco monitoring system in the cab helps me drive more carefully.
“I take pride in how I drive and always try to do my best.”
Prior to joining Stagecoach Andy was a Post Office counters clerk from 1981 to 2006.
Marcin Leszczyk, operations manager at the Stagecoach Kettering depot, said: “Andy has been committed to providing excellent customer service as well as ensuring that passengers experience a safe and comfortable ride.”
