Helen Dawson and her fiance are getting married in June in Thrapston, and they are planning to buy everything they need from the town itself.
Helen, who owns her own PR firm, got the idea after starting a Facebook page promoting the town.
She said: “Most people reacted well to it but there were some negative people saying you have to go out of Thrapston if you want anything.
“I took it a bit personally and when Peter and I decided to get married we thought we would buy and do everything in Thrapston to show people what’s available on their doorstep.”
Helen, who was born in the West Midlands and moved to Thrapston about seven years ago, said the response to her quest has been positive.
She said: “The more I’ve looked into getting everything locally the more I’ve unearthed. I’ve asked questions on Facebook and people have come up with suggestions, some amusing, but people are entering into the spirit.”
The ceremony and reception will be held at Tasty Bite teashop, the guests are staying at the Bridge Hotel, the dress is from Gowns & Garters and Karen’s Florist is providing the flowers.
Helen said: “We’ve tried to think of ways of involving as many businesses as possible and I’m still sorting things out with other businesses in the town.
“I’ve found some hugely talented people I wouldn’t have known about otherwise.”
