Support for new mums to breastfeed is being highlighted by the NHS in Northamptonshire.
Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (NHFT) provides appropriate, sensitive support with feeding for Mums.
All Mums with new babies across Northamptonshire receive sessions with Health Visitors who are trained to deliver breastfeeding support and help Mums manage common breastfeeding challenges.
If a more intensive approach is needed there is a specialist breastfeeding support team on hand.
Diana Mair, from the Specialist Breastfeeding Support Service at NHFT, said: “We all know breastfeeding is the healthiest and most natural way to feed your baby but not everyone finds it easy. We want mums to know they are not alone.
“Our friendly knowledgeable team provide additional one-to-one specialist support at home for those who may need it.
“We also run drop-in sessions across the county where you can to get practical help and encouragement from our support team and talk with other mums to share experiences. We are here to support you and help you find what is best for you and your baby.”
Breastfeeding drop-in sessions take place across the county with specialist sessions at the Royal & Derngate Theatre in Northampton every Monday (except bank Holidays) between 10am and midday and at Penrith Drive Children’s Centre Wellingborough every Tuesday between 1.30 and 3pm.
The Specialist Team say they have seen more than 1,000 mums in the past year and helped them to achieve their breastfeeding goals.
