A BMW sport has been stolen from a house in Irchester after its keys were taken from the property in a burglary.

The incident took place in Evelyn Way, some time between 10.30pm last night and 6.30am this morning.

The stolen car is a white BMW 1 Series 116i sport, registration number KV63 NPN.

Witnesses or anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Meanwhile, Northamptonshire Police has issued a warning to people to take precautions to protect against car key burglary.

The force says residents should keep doors and windows locked at all times, even when there is someone at home.

Where possible, burglar alarms should be set and cars should be parked in garages or on a driveway.

Car should be locked at all times, even if it is in your garage, and drivers should consider fitting a tracker device, alarm and immobiliser.

Keys should be kept out of sight and reach from doors and windows at all times and house keys should not be kept in the lock but in a place in which they can quickly be found in an emergency.
