She was a hit with the judges when she appeared on the X Factor this year, now Rushden singer Becki Yates hopes she’ll be a hit with music fans after releasing her debut single this week.
Her track, Role With It, was released on Monday, December 10, and is available to download from iTunes and Amazon.
Becki, 21, who currently works part-time at Pets at Home in Wellingborough, hopes the single will sell enough copies to fuel demand for an album.
She has already experienced a brush with fame after featuring in this year’s X Factor competition.
Her audition at the O2 Arena drew much praise from judges Gary Barlow, Tulisa, Louis Walsh and guest judge Rita Ora.
But after disappointment at the boot camp stage of the competition she left the TV show.
The former Ferrers School pupil was contacted by Cambridgeshire-based recording studios Perry Road Studios shortly after her appearance on the show was aired.
Producer Greg Stephenson said he heard something special in Becki’s voice and she was offered a recording deal.
Becki said: “I have been singing since I was little but I never had the confidence to sing in front of people.
“All I wanted from the X Factor was to get in front of the judges and see what they thought of my voice. Their comments were amazing. Tulisa said I wasn’t going back to that pet shop.”
Becki’s single is available to buy from www.perryroadrecords.co.uk, iTunes and Amazon.
