Beach attraction making a welcome return to Wellingborough

The fun-filled sandy activity, which is free to enter, comes complete with golden sand and deckchairs.

Sandcastle building commences from Saturday, August 6, until Saturday, August 27, with the beach opening every day from 10am to 4pm.

It will last three weeks, including four weekends, and for the first time will be located on the Market Place.

The beach space has been organised by the Wellingborough Business Improvement District (BID), which is paid for by businesses to boost the town centre through the Discover Wellingborough campaign.

BID manager John Cable said: “Once again we are over the moon to be bringing the Wellingborough beach back as we know how much it has been enjoyed by children and families over the past few years.

“Here in Wellingborough we are surrounded by almost 30 beaches, but they are all nearly two hours away, so that’s why we like to bring the beach to the people.

“This event is a great way to help the town centre grow and expand by appealing to more and more visitors, particularly those who may not get a chance to visit an actual beach this summer.”

The popular beach has been going for four years and visiting figures have increased since then as popularity has grown.

For added entertainment there will also be a helter-skelter, swing boats and a photo wall.

Magic tricks, balloon modelling and Punch and Judy shows will also take place at weekends throughout August.

This year’s entertainment for adults has also been planned with a number of themed evenings scheduled to take place.
