Northampton-based Barclaycard has put 112 jobs at risk after closing its offer website, it has been announced.
The company, which has its headquarters on the Brackmills Estate, said 112 people were affected at locations in the USA and the UK, and confirmed some staff in Northampton had been put a risk. A spokesperson for the company said it would not be revealing how many staff in Northampton were at risk.
In addition to the permanent staff, an unconfirmed number of contractors would also be affected, the spokesperson added.
The firm announced to staff earlier this week that it was closing its Bespoke Offers website on Monday October 26. The affected staff are now under consultation.
In a statement, the firm said: “Following an internal review we have announced the closure of our digital marketplace business incoroporating our bespoke offers.
“The business will cease to trade from Monday. Any transactions that have occurred and have not been actioned will, of course, be fulfilled.”
A spokesperson added: “It is very much a decision after a detailed review of the financial performance of the business to date and against their potential to deliver acceptable returns in the future.”
“We are committed to supporting our colleagues and to exploring redeployment opportunities wherever possible.”
