Bakery chain Greggs has announced a number of redundancies at its Kettering distribution centre in the Telford Way Industrial Estate.
The firm, which yesterday announced a growth in profits, said it was making 400 redundancies across the country and some of those would be at its Kettering base.
The firm did not confirm how many redundancies were being made at the Henson Way site when contacted yesterday, but the Telegraph understands that evening lorry drivers and a number of warehouse staff are affected.
A relative of a staff member affected by the move contacted the Telegraph and said the drivers had been informed about the redundancies at 5am yesterday morning (Thursday, January 9) after returning from overnight shifts.
In a statement released yesterday, Greggs said its 1,671 branches would now be supplied by its regional bakeries.
A spokesman added: “The redundancies in Kettering are as a result of these changes.”
