PEOPLE with even the most unusual requests can have their cake and eat it too thanks to the creations of baker Lara Clarke.

Despite only baking her first cake eight months ago, Miss Clarke now runs a flourishing cake business in High Street, Irhtlingborough, called Tasty Cakes.

While traditional cakes and cupcakes are also in her repertoire, some of her creations are a far cry from the average birthday, christening or wedding cake.

With cake mix and icing sugar as her tools, Miss Clarke, 26, is able to bring to life even the most complex of confectionary to celebrate any occasion.

Her latest creation is a Triumph motorbike cake for a wedding. It took her 30 hours over five weeks to construct.

One of the most unusual request she has received was to make a garden shed cake.

She said: “It’s all in the planning – a lot of it is about the design of the cake.

“I made my first cake just eight months ago. I had watched the American television shows Cake Boss and Ace of Cakes and I just loved it.

“I prefer the unusual requests now.

“I’ve made an Aston Martin, tea pots, a corgi, a cocker spaniel, a caravan, a shed and a car. The shed was probably the strangest request.”

Miss Clarke, who is originally from Belfast, moved to Northamptonshire recently after her boyfriend got a job locally.

She combines her cake business with working for an online bingo company as a chat moderator.
