Awards for helping out

Tenants who go the extra mile to help others have been recognised at the sixth annual Wellingborough Homes Community Hero awards.

The Good Neighbour Awards went to Frederick Smith, who was praised for running errands for neighbours, and Elizabeth and David Walker, who were nominated for helping elderly neighbours. The Volunteering Award was given to Jean Ison and Trish Harding, who were commended for the work they do in Finedon. Working in the Community Awards went to Mribula Dhall, Geraldine Guy, Leslie Cooper, Sylvia Erskine, Jacque White and Alison Joseph of the Saturday School and the Support Wellingborough Consortium. A lifetime achievement award was presented to Keith Pentalow, who was recognised for his work with St John Ambulance and Wellingborough Homes.

Community Hero awards also went to a Women’s Aid volunteer, and curriculum co-ordinator Helen Doel.
