Creative workshops for the over-50s at The Core theatre, Corby, are returning under a new name.

Now called Arts Alive, the workshops will begin again this month and people are invited to go along and explore their creative side.

Led by professional artist and writer Paula Boulton, the weekly workshops are held in the theatre’s The Lab studio space and make use of all the facilities available.

Previous workshops have included drama, creative writing, music and even ballet.

Paula said: “This is my favourite group. People over 50 tend to have life experience to bring to their creativity and give themselves permission to have fun and try something new.

“They have a self confidence borne of having been around for a while which is great to work with.”

Roots, Rhymes and Recollections, a collection of original sketches, poetry and songs, was the most recent production by the group and was well received by audiences at the Rooftop Art Gallery at the old library in Corby.

Anyone interested in joining Arts Alive can go along to The Core on Thursday, January 24, at 1pm.

Sessions cost £3 and they can be booked by calling the theatre’s ticket office on 01536 470470 or online at www.thecorecorby.com.
