Two men have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was found dead in Oakham this morning (Thursday).
Officers were called to a property in Gaol Street, Oakham, at just after 7.30am and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The road is cordoned off while police carry out inquiries but police say the investigation is at its early stages.
Sgt Kevin Pulley, the investigating officer at the scene, said: “An adult male has been found deceased this morning. The circumstances are unclear. However, the death is being treated as suspicious.
“Two further adult males have been arrested on suspicion of murder.
“Significant scene preservation is in place, which will continue for a number of hours. This may cause disruption to local businesses and the community but we are working with them to minimise this.”
