A man been arrested after a three-vehicle crash near Caldecott which left a 49-year-old in hospital with serious injuries.

The incident took place at about 1pm this afternoon (Tuesday, March 25) on the A6003 Uppingham Road, near Eye Brook reservoir.

The 49-year-old, a passenger in a pick-up truck which collided with a car, was airlifted to University Hospital Coventry by Helimed with what police have described as serious injuries.

An eyewitness reported seeing the fire service cut a passenger free from one of the vehicles involved.

The road was blocked off between Caldecott and Rockingham while the emergency services were on the scene. Both Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance attended the crash.

A spokesman for Leicestershire Police confirmed that a man has been arrested in connection with the incident.
