The owner of a cat that died after being hit by a car in Higham Ferrers has appealed for the person who took it to the vets to come forward so she can thank them.

Cassie Rose’s pet Alfie was found on the side of the road yesterday by an unknown samaritan, but despite their best efforts sadly later died.

And now Cassie says she wants them to get in touch so she can explain her gratitude.

She said: “The fact the gentleman brought Alfie into the vets meant that we were able to take him home and bury him next to his favourite tree.

“We were able to say goodbye to him properly, if he hadn’t then we would never have seen our big fluffball again.

“We just want to say how grateful we are and buy him some flowers or a pint to say thank you.”
