An appeal has been made to companies in Northamptonshire to help provide a special treat for a three-year-old girl who has terminal cancer.

Beau Mae Smith has been battling a rare skin tissue cancer, known as rhabdomyosarcoma, for the past two years and has endured numerous sessions of chemotherapy, radiotherapy and distressing surgery on her face and neck.

Unfortunately, the treatment has not beaten the cancer and Beau is now at home being given palliative treatment.

Pat Hayes, a friend of the family who runs a support group for grandparents of children with cancer, said she would like to organise a memorable experience for Beau that her family would be able to treasure.

Mrs Hayes is appealing to any businesses or organisations in the county who could offer Beau and her family a special treat such as a pamper day or organise a small beach party with sand, a paddling pool and inflatables.

She said: “I just wanted to do something to give Beau a little treat and give the whole family a memorable experience. She is a real girly girl and loves having her nails done so it would be great if we could get her a little beauty treatment.

“Our group has no funds, and we are spread over the UK and USA, so it would have to be reliant on local companies donating their services.

“We are just trying to drum up as much support as we can locally.

“It would be a wonderful memory for a wonderful family.”

Any companies or organisations that could offer Beau a special treat are asked to email Pat Hayes on hayes0333@gmail.com to get more information.

Meanwhile, a group of young people are organising a fund-raising event in Northampton to raise money for Beau and her family.

The National Citizen Service group of 15 to 17 year olds have organised the NCS Culture Festival at The Bangladeshi Association, Gateway Centre, Mill Road, Northampton, on Friday, August 14 from midday until 4pm. Entry is free.

The event includes food and craft stalls, activities for children such as a bouncy castle and face painting and dancing and singing displays.
