A COMMUNITY centre which was due to close in December has won a second reprieve.
Last June Northamptonshire County Council revealed the future of the Connaughty Centre, in Cottingham Road, Corby, was hanging in the balance because of a need to make budget cuts.
A decision on its future was postponed until this spring and now it has been given a further six-month reprieve. A spokesman for the county council said: “A decision on the long-term future of the Connaughty Centre in Corby has been deferred for six months while all options are fully explored.”
The authority said it will continue to work with groups which use the centre to try to meet their needs.
More than 20 town organisations are based at the centre, including Youth Works CIC, which provides youth work programmes, educational courses, support services for young people, aged 13 to 19.
