A big-hearted youngster has raised more than £150 for charity after deciding to walk miles to help unfortunate children.

Amelia Hill, five, told her parents she wanted to walk from her Kettering home to Geddington and back. Mum Natalie, dad Andy and two-year-old brother Jacob accompanied her on the walk, which Amelia managed without help from her parents.

Amelia’s class name at Buccleuch Academy is Geddington, which is why the village was chosen.

Mum Natalie said: “It was raining and snowing but she wanted to do a walk and wanted to raise a lot of money.

“She was tired and she got a little bit upset because she and her brother were so cold.”

When they got home, Natalie said they watched Comic Relief on iPlayer, and Amelia said she was pleased to have raised £153 to help disadvantaged children.

Natalie added: “We just wanted her to realise how lucky she is. She said she felt very lucky.”
