Kettering Allotments Association says it has some vacant plots at two of its sites after clearing a long waiting list.

Dai Johnson, allotment association treasurer, said: “In recent years we have had long waiting lists for an allotment, but we have worked hard to reduce these and there are now a few plots vacant.

“The vacant plots are quite overgrown with weeds, so anyone taking on a plot must be prepared for some hard work.

“Now is the ideal time to start an allotment garden, as there is plenty of time to prepare the plot ready for next spring.”

The plots are available on two fields: Scott Road near Brambleside and Margaret Road in the Ise valley.

Rents vary with plot size, but a typical allotment costs less than £15 per year.
