KettFest is back for a third time this weekend and promises to be the best yet.

The community arts, culture and music festival will take place across the borough from Friday to Sunday (June 9 to 11).

On Friday Corn Market Hall will be the venue for a crafts and food fair from 8.30am to 11.30am with the Three Cocks and Alexandra Arms hosting fine ales, beers and ciders all weekend.

Kettering Athletic Club will stage a magic night from 7pm, with the Kino Lounge hosting an acoustic night at the same time.

At 7.30pm, the Kettering Arts Centre will play host to an international comedy festival, which is taking place from 1.30pm on Saturday as well.

On Saturday, parking in Kettering Council car parks is free all day.

The town’s civic society is holding a treasure hunt.

Forms can be bought, for £2, from Morrisons on Saturday from 10am, near the first plaque (Alfred East) in Morrisons garden, Northall Street.

Entrants will work their way to Time Travellers HQ at the train station where a reward awaits.

There will be a number of events in the Market Place including face painting, stalls, games, dance school shows, old photos of Kettering, colouring competitions and more.

The Kino Lounge will host performances from choirs, drum groups and authors from 10am with an electronic music stage at The Yards from 2pm to midnight.

There will also be exhibitions at the Manor House Museum and Alfred East Art Gallery, with a yard sale in Market Street from 10.30am to 4.30pm.

Kettering Athletic Club will also host an uptown northern soul night from 8pm with tickets costing £5.

On Sunday, Kettering Skate Park is open all day for people to have a try, although they will need to bring their own scooter or skateboard.

A drop in and draw art session will be held at 151a London Road from 10am to 4pm, and there is free internet available at the library from 12.30pm to 1.30pm.

Kettering Tennis Club will also have a free try-out session from 12.30pm to 4pm with the popular ‘Bands in the Park’ taking place at 3pm at Rockingham Road Pleasure Park.

Keystone will play host to a Run your Tongue and bring your own booze night from 6.30pm with live music at The Yards from 7pm.

One of the most popular events will be Wicksteed at War, where in previous years 20,000 visitors have seen history come to life with a series of battle re-enactments and fly-bys at Wicksteed Park.

Highlights of the 2017 show will include more than 120 military vehicles such as modern main battle tanks and tracked fighting vehicles and more than 30 re-enactment groups, including from the Second World War and the Vietnam War.

The show’s education day, designed for children from seven to 14, will also be held again on Friday, June 9, with 300 spaces available for local schools.

Wicksteed Park marketing co-ordinator Marie Phillips said: “Wicksteed At War is a fantastic event for all the family and a great opportunity for children and adults alike to learn more about what actually happened and how the war affected families just like theirs.”

Although the main event is free, charges apply for car parking the education day.
