Final preparations are being made for Wellingborough’s carnival parade and Party In The Park.
A sea of colour will make its way through the streets of Wellingborough for the carnival parade on Saturday, July 5.
The parade will leave Broad Green at 1pm before heading through the town and finishing at Croyland Park at about 2.30pm.
But the fun won’t stop there as the carnival will be followed by Wellingborough’s Party In The Park, also at Croyland Park, from midday onwards on Sunday, July 6.
Mayor of Wellingborough Cllr Jim Bass will be joined by Wellingborough Carnival Court to officially open the event at midday, followed by live music playing throughout the afternoon until 6pm.
Wellingborough Council events officer Julia Wells said they have booked a number of local acts and there will also be performances by tribute acts for Party In The Park.
There will be a charity dog show on the Sunday organised by Wellidogs, as well as charity and trade stalls during the weekend and entertainment provided by Stevens Funfair.
Connect FM will be hosting the event.
The carnival the day before is organised by a group of unpaid volunteers, and they are urging people of all ages to line the streets of Wellingborough to show their support for all those taking part.
The carnival website states: “We are again looking for your support to join in our carnival parade and for the streets to be filled with well-wishers supporting those who have gone to so much trouble in building floats and making costumes.
“We are looking for volunteers or groups to help us on carnival day to act as stewards on the parade route.”
