A man arrested on suspicion of attempted rape has appeared in court.
Roman Skarba, speaking through a Slovakian interpreter, 41, of Rochester Road, Corby, appeared before magistrates accused of one count of attempted rape, alleged to have happened following a night at the Corby Candle pub in Elizabeth Street on Saturday, August 11.
Skarba was said to have gone home with a Corby woman after the evening out to a house just a few hundred metres away. He is then said to have attempted to rape her.
The court heard how Skarba, an agency worker for PMP in Peterborough, intends to plead not guilty, although no official plea was recorded at Friday’s hearing before Corby magistrates.
After submissions from the defence solicitor, magistrates agreed to release Skarba on conditional bail.
He is due to appear at Northampton Crown Court later this month for a preliminary hearing.
