A Sywell accountants is teaming up with the organisers of Miss Universe Great Britain to host a charity evening to help victims of acid attacks in India.
Elsby & Co, which also has an office in Market Harborough, is taking part in the accountants, beauty queens and Bollywood night on Saturday, May 14, at Ruby’s Bar in Diana’s Health Club, Wellingborough.
Organisers of the evening are hoping it will raise thousands of pounds for the young women of Sheroes Hangout – a café in Agra which is run by the Stop Acid Attacks charity - whose lives have been severely affected by the attacks.
Carl Elsby, founding partner of Elsby & Co, said: “What is particularly special about Sheroes Hangout is that it doesn’t just give the women jobs, but it teaches them life and business skills so that they can become entrepreneurs of the future.
“As an organisation that supports business people on a daily basis, this is particularly relevant for us.”
A highlight of the party will be a solo Bhangra dance by Carl – as long as people dig deep in their pockets to sponsor him.
Mr Eslby added: “Dancing is not my thing at all so anyone who knows me will appreciate what a big deal this is!
“I’m dreading it but as they say, it’s all for a good cause!”
The night will involve a Western Asian disco, Indian food and plenty of fun and games.
Tickets are £25 per person with all proceeds going to the charity. To book your place, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
It will also form part of a Miss Universe Great Britain documentary which is following the story of modern day beauty queens.
