Police have closed off a stretch of the A14 near Burton Latimer after a dog escaped on to the road.

Traffic was halted earlier this afternoon (Tuesday, July 15) after police were told of the animal dodging vehicles on the dual carriageway.

A police spokesman said they had been called to reports a large black whippet or greyhound was on the road shortly before 3.30pm.

The spokesman added: “We have now caught the dog and rung the owner.”
