Saturday, November 3

King’s Cliffe Village Hall annual autumn coffee morning, from 10am to 12.30pm. There will be homemade cakes, freshly-brewed coffee, a raffle, a sales table of home-baking and preserves, as well as a new-to-you Book Corner offering the chance to find yourself a good read. Proceeds of the morning will go towards the upkeep of the village hall as a community facility.

Access by car is at the west end of West Street, via Orchard Lane and Church Walk where there is parking space behind the hall. On foot, access is via Eagle Lane, beside the King’s Cliffe Shopper in West Street.

A Christmas fair for ‘ladies who love things’ will take place at Alfred Street Junior School, College Street, Rushden, on Saturday, November 3, from 1pm until 4.30pm. A range of Christmas gifts will be on sale, including jewellery, crafts and cards. There will also be a tombola and a raffle. Admission is £2 for adults over 16 and £1 for children, Proceeds from the event will go to the Crazy Hats Breast Cancer Appeal.

On Saturday, November 3, there will be a Festival of Angels beginning with a quiet afternoon in Thorpe Malsor church from midday to 5pm. Angels will be depicted in a variety of forms. Free admission on Saturday. On Sunday the church will be open again from 12–5 (£1 admission) and the village hall will play host to the Crafty Angels Cafe with craft stalls and light refreshment from 1-5pm

The Little Green Men band has reunited after 20 years and will be playing at the rugby clubin Corby on Saturday, November 3.

People may remember the band from the late 80s and early 90s when they played extensively around the country and made three albums.

Sunday, November 4

People can join the Waendel Walkers for a six or 12-mile circular walk on Sunday, November 4, starting and finishing at the Royal Oak, Roxton, from 10am. For details call 01933 272971 or 01604 410723.

All Saints Church, Kettering, is holding a family treasure hunt in Rockingham Road Park at 2.30 pm on Saturday, November 4. It will include a short act of worship at 4pm.

The New Perspectives Theatre Company presents A Christmas Carol at Gretton Village Hall on Sunday, November 4, at 7.30pm. Tickets are on sale at Gretton Post Office at £10, or £8 concessions. Proceeds of the evening in aid of Gretton Village Hall ongoing improvement fund.

Wednesday, November 7

People are invited to look around Kettering Science Academy’s building at a community open evening on Wednesday, November 7, between 6pm and 8pm.

Thursday, November 8

A volunteer fair is being held on Thursday, November 8, at Wellingborough Library, Pebble Lane, Wellingborough from 11am to 3pm.

Raunds WI next meets on Thursday, November 8, when members hope Barbara Carman will speak on her work as an “Old Bailey Usher”. The meeting starts at 7.30pm and is at the Saxon Hall.

A blood donors’ session is being held at Stephenson Way Community Centre, Corby, on Thursday, November 8, from 1pm until 3.30pm and from 4.30pm until 7.15pm.

The next Redwell Community and Police surgery is taking place on Thursday November 8 at 7:30pm.

The surgery will be held at the Redwell leisure Centre, Barnwell Road, Wellingborough, where police and councillors for the area will answer residents’ questions. All are welcome

Anyone for Bridge? There are a few places remaining at the Harringworth Bridge Drives taking place this year in the Village Hall on Thursday 8 November. You can choose to join the Daytime Drive which starts at 10.30 or the Evening Drive starting at 6.00 pm. Irchester Historical Society will meet next on Thursday 8 November at 7.30pm in the Library for a Victorian Family story. Society member, Ellen Godfrey (nee Wilmott) will explain about her Berrill and Wilmott ancestors and their connection with the local area.
