A county hospice has benefited from the generosity of staff at a steel firm.
Employees at Tata Steel in Corby took part in a ‘pound of love’ raffle which helped to raise funds for the Tata Medical Centre in Calcutta and Lakelands Hospice.
More than £1,100 was raised and will be split between the two causes.
Tata Steel’s Emma Chandler said: “We decided that supporting a local charity would mean more to our employees so a raffle was set up to support the medical centre and Lakelands. The response from our suppliers was overwhelming. We had prizes ranging from an X-Box to a laptop.”
Lakelands community fundraiser Paul Marlow said: “It was an amazing gesture by the Corby workforce to include us in their fundraising initiative.”
