Wellingborough School says its A-level results have continued to increase with about one in every six grades received this year being an A*.
Headmaster, Garry Bowe, greeted students this morning as grades and university places were confirmed.
Mrs Barnhurst, deputy head, said: “Wellingborough School have again enjoyed a good year of A level and AS results.
“At A level our A* grade performance has continued to increase, with this year bringing us the greatest percentage to date; an impressive 16.5 per cent of results achieved were graded at A* compared with 14.6 per cent last year.
“These included over a quarter of our pupils taking biology, geography, history, further maths and politics gaining an A* and half the pupils in art and Latin.
“Twenty-three of our 61 pupils gained at least one A*
“ We are delighted that so many have been accepted at the universities of their choice for next year.
“At AS, top results were again in place with 51 of the 86 pupils gaining at least one A grade, whilst eight per cent gained a clean sweep of As. We were particularly pleased with the A* from one of our Lower Sixth pupils, awarded for the Extended Project Qualification.”
