A 1940s day has been held in Kettering to celebrate the launch of a lottery funded history project.

The event, organised by Kettering Museum, took place in Kettering’s Market Place on Saturday, September 8.

There was 1940s music and dancing, and traditional products were on sale.

Visitors were also able to learn about the exhibition being held at the museum about American servicemen in Kettering during the Second World War.

Museum officer Ellie Baumber organised the event with Brenda Easton from Kettering Library.

She said: “We were awarded £30,000 from the Heritage Lottery Fund, and this event is the launch day.

“The museum has opened an exhibition on the American servicemen stationed in the Kettering area during the war.”
