Most people tackling a 100km walk for charity would probably shop for some sensible footwear before setting off.

Not so Holiday Inn Corby’s sales manager Janette Weedall, who decided to take on the route from London to Brighton in high heels.

Janette, who said her feet, but not thighs, were surprisingly fine after the endurance test, was raising money for the Bob Champion Cancer Trust and has so-far raised more than £7,300.

She added: “We have also been running a charity raffle at the hotel.

“I met Bob {former jockey] during the walk, He is such an inspring man and after seeing a film about him I wanted to raise money for the trust.”

Janette took on the walk alongside a friend who unfortunately suffered problems with blisters and had to cut short her walk, so Janette took on the last 20km alone.

She added: “People should pop into the hotel, in Geddington Road, and pick up a raffle ticket. We have some great prizes including meals for two and Land Rover experiences.”
