A dessert parlour has served more than 100,000 scoops of gelato in its first year of business.
Italgelato opened in Corporation Street, Corby, last August and has seen 75,000 customers through the doors in its first 12 months in the town.
Customers with a sweet tooth seem to love the menu, which includes numerous flavours of gelato ice-cream and sorbet, waffles, crepes and cakes, as well as a range of hot and cold drinks and some savoury items.
In celebration of the shop’s first anniversary, it is giving customers the chance to win some sweet treats in a birthday raffle.
Anyone who visits the shop on its first birthday on Saturday, August 6, and spends more than £2 will receive a raffle ticket.
First prize is a hamper full of italian goodies, with a half-litre of gelato of your choice for the second and third prize winners.
All tickets will be put into a hat and the three winners will be announced on Italgelato’s Facebook page at 10pm that night.
Italgelato directors Roberto Miscali and Marcello Rossi have thanked customers for their support during the first year, and said: “It’s been a roller coaster, but the good people of Corby and the surrounding towns have taken us to their hearts and have been incredibly supportive.
“We would like to extend a large thank you.”
Gelato is the Italian for ice-cream and by containing only 20 per cent air, bosses say their gelato is denser and richer.
Last year the dessert parlour ran a competition to find a new flavour.
The winning entry was Irn-bru flavour with the winner visiting the factory with her two sons to help make a batch of the new ice-cream.
Italgelato can seat up to 80 people in the parlour and has outside seating for 16.
It also caters for children’s parties and private functions.
