A Kettering man is getting ready to embark on a 1,100- mile walk from Land’s End to John O’Groats to raise money for Cransley Hospice.

Keith Ogley, 71, will be tackling the famous route from May 13 next year and says he will spend about three months on foot.

Mr Ogley is a member of Kettering Lions Club, and the money he raises will be split between Cransley Hospice and Lions’ charities.

The walk is partly in memory of Mr Ogley’s wife Joan, who died 10 years ago.

Mr Ogley said: “Joan spent the last two weeks of her life at Cransley Hospice and the staff there were fantastic.

“Myself and my daughters, Karen and Helen, felt like we ought to give something back to the hospice afterwards.”

Mr Ogley is aiming to raise £20,000 on the walk and has been training regularly.
