Six men braved getting their legs waxed at a pub event in the county which raised more than £1,000 for charity.

Dozens of people attended the White Horse in Old for the wax and hair cutting event last Saturday.

Along with the sponsored leg and head shaves there was a cake sale, auction and raffle at the pub.

The event raised £1,050 for Help for Heros.

Co-organiser Jack Warner said: “It was a fantastic event which received a great turn-out from the community who put their hands in their pockets to support the cause.”

The event was organised after Marc Birch, a nephew of pub customer Ade, was killed while serving in the armed forces several years ago.

There was also a balloon release to mark the event.
