Have your say

If you and your family love going to the cinema but have a limited budget, then Odeon cinemas has the perfect solution with its Odeon Kids club.

I love taking my children to the pictures but I’m often put off by the cost of us going as a family – we can easily spend £30 just on tickets (and even more if opting for premier seats which offer comfier chairs and more leg room).

But what’s great about Odeon Kids showings is that they cost just £2.50 per ticket – whether you’re an adult or child!

The films on offer have been picked especially with children in mind and are available Saturday and Sunday mornings and most school holidays.

Each week, a different film is shown. However, there is just one showing each day at 10.30am and they can be quite popular, especially at weekends.

When I took my two eldest children to the cinema, we went to watch the film Epic (U).

It’s an animated fantasy film which tells the story of a teenage girl who finds herself in a magical world to help lead a battle between good and evil.

Any Beyonce fans will recognise her voice in the film as that of the Queen.

I knew the film was a good choice as 20 minutes in and Kai leaned over and said: “This film is great mum!”, and I must admit that I enjoyed the film too!

The animation was superb and the storyline easy to follow too.

Tickets can be bought on the day but I’d highly recommend booking online.

However, if doing this, you’ll need to pay an extra 50p per ticket for admin purposes. But for £9 for the three of us, it’s really good value.

It’s also worth noting that you pay the same price for premier seats as you do for standard seats (where normally you would pay more).

Another reason to book online so you can bag the best seats!

When it comes to sweets and treats while watching the film, Odeon offer a Kids Mix Pack for £2.99 which includes a snack (raisins, Frootz, Smarties or Randoms) plus a drink (Fruit Shoot, water or small soft drink) and a small salted or sweet popcorn.

However, if like me you want to save the pennies, why not take along your own sweets and drinks?

My two have recently celebrated their birthdays so had lots of sweets to choose from!

And if you’re still feeling peckish once the film has finished, at Kettering there are plenty of eating out options surrounding the cinema, including Frankie & Benny’s and KFC.

The kids thoroughly enjoyed their visit to the cinema and I’m sure we’ll see another Odeon Kids film before the summer is out.

Parking

It can get busy but there is plenty of free parking.
