We're Going on a Bear Hunt

There’s plenty of Christmas fun to be had by all the family in preparation for the arrival of Father Christmas!

Here’s a round-up of some ideas...

Christmas Experience

West Lodge Rural Farm

Until December 24

Be a part of something magical and visit Father Christmas in his workshop at West Lodge Rural Farm in Desborough.

It’s just £3.50 (plus usual admission fee to the farm).

He is, of course, a very busy man at this time of year but he’s made space in his schedule to be at the farm on weekdays from 11am to midday and 1pm to 2.30pm plus weekends and school holidays from 10.30am to 12.40pm and 2pm to 4pm.

There’s no need to book – just turn up!

And he’s not camera-shy either which means that you can take as many photos as you like with Father Christmas – perfect for capturing your family’s special encounter.

Weekday term-time entry to the farm costs £3.70 for a child, £4.70 for an adult. Under-twos go free.

On weekends and school holidays, entry is £4.95 for a child, £5.95 per adult and free for under-twos.

We’re going on a bear hunt

The Core, Corby

Until December 8

We’re going on a bear hunt.

We’re going to catch a big one.

What a beautiful day!

We’re not scared.

Sound familiar? Based on the book by Michael Rosen, Little Angel Theatre brings the timeless classic, We’re going on a bear hunt, alive with their trademark blend of physical performance, puppetry, live music and song.

The production, suitable from ages two and above, follows a family’s excitement as they wade through the grass, splash through the river and squelch through the mud in search of the bear.

But the family get a great surprise when they finally reach the cave on the other side of the dark forest!

Showing times are Friday, December 6, at 11am and 2pm and Saturday, December 7, and Sunday, December 8, at 11am, 2pm and 4pm with tickets priced from £7.50 to £11.50.

Running time is 45 minutes. Call 01536 470470 or visit www.thecorecorby.com to book tickets.

Ice skating at Beckworth Emporium

Glebe Road, Mears Ashby

Until January 7

Time to get your skates on and head down to Beckworth Emporium which has brought back its ice skating rinks!

Here you can skate on real ice every day until Tuesday, January 7 (except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day).

With lighting and music for atmosphere while you skate, the venue proves popular so it’s worth booking your tickets to avoid any disappointment.

Sessions last for 45 minutes, start on the hour and cost £10 per adult and £7.50 for children, which includes skate hire.

Not feeling too confident about donning ice skates? Then why not hire out a Push Along Penguin!

Available for hire at just £3 per session, they’ll help ensure you stay on your feet – and they’re perfect for little ‘uns too who might not be confident on the ice.

Once your session is over, you can grab hot food and drinks from the Ice Café.

Beckworth Emporium are also holding Parent & Toddler fun sessions which are said to be ideal for parents with pre-school children.

They’re held Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 10am until 11.45am until Wednesday, December 11.

It’s great value for money with up to three children under five years old skating free for each paying adult (£10). Plus, adult skaters get a free hot drink in the Ice Café.

There is skating assistance from the Beckworth Emporium Ice Team during the session and pushchairs are also allowed on the ice rink. Book online or just turn up and pay on the day – availability is guaranteed!
