One of the county police force’s top officers finger printed pupils when a successful crime prevention project returned to a junior school.

Asst Chief Con Andy Frost was on hand for the re-launch of the Young Detectives scheme at Park Junior School, Kettering, which will run for the next three weeks.

Year 5 teacher Karen Lennox said: “It’s an opportunity for them to learn about the work the police do and we are very grateful to the police for giving us the opportunity.”

The scheme, in which pupils design safety posters delivered to nearby houses, was so successful when Year 6 pupils took part in the autumn that the school invited the police back to talk to Year 5.

St Andrew’s Primary School and St Mary’s Primary School are also taking part.
