Pupils were given help and advice on creative writing by author Steve Bowkett.

He visited Lodge Park Technology College, Corby, and held a workshop with a group of 35 11 and 12-year-olds.

Steve, of Market Harborough, has written fiction for children of all ages for many years, including fantasy and tales of adventure and has also had horror stories for adults published.

More recently he has published educational books for teachers about creativity, thinking skills, emotional resourcefulness and spirituality.

This year will see the publication of his 59th book, Love at the Fairground, which is due out in September.

Wendy McCabe, library manager at the school, said: “During the workshop Steve showed students how to develop characters using a number of techniques, including storyboards. He also reviewed some of their work and they thoroughly enjoyed the session. He really appreciates the time he spends here at the school.”

Pupil Kuba Witukiewicz won a quiz on the author and received a signed copy of one of Steve’s books.
