A club for youngsters which has more than 100 members is looking for more volunteers.

The Kids Club based at Higham Ferrers Band club meets once a fortnight and is attended by children ranging from one to about 13-years-old.

Each one gets a newsletter filled with activities and at the club the youngsters take part in games and dancing.

Club secretary Ingrid York said: “The children have a membership card which they bring along to each meeting to get stickers and once it is filled they get a prize. We do lots of activities and we’d like to run darts, pool and Wii leagues but to do that we’d need to have more volunteers. I’d also be interested in setting up a club for older teenagers but again we need more volunteers to do that.”

Admission to the Kids Club is free. It is funded through a bingo game at each meeting which costs £1 and another bingo session which is held for adults.

Children must be accompanied by their parents who have to become members of Higham Ferrers Band Club but they can be signed in for their first visit so they can find out if they like it.
