A circus will perform for three extra nights after heavy rain stranded it at Wicksteed Park.
The Mr Fips Wonder Circus was due to move on to Market Harborough after six shows at the Kettering amusement park on Monday.
But weeks of heavy rain meant the new site’s water-logged ground is too soft for the circus’ heavy transport vehicles.
Joint owner Mr Fips the Clown, also known as Jan Brenner, said: “I can think of worse places to be stranded and Wicksteed Park has been kind enough to say we can stay and put on more shows.
“We will be here with four extra shows and hopefully the weather will be nicer.”
The circus will have additional shows on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Mr Brenner said the circus agreed with Harborough Council to cancel the Market Harborough shows on Monday.
The circus avoided damaging Wicksteed’s ground when setting up near the Celebration Suite by laying tracks down over the grass and carrying all equipment on by hand, which took three days. It parked its heavy vehicles elsewhere.
Mr Brenner said the rain had kept audiences away when it was heavy over the past few days, but the stalls had been full when it was drier.
He said: “I’ve spent my life having buckets of water thrown down my pants and custard pies thrown at me. You would have thought I’d be used to it, but I’m sick of this rain.”
Tickets cost from £8 for adults and £7 for children and are available from the park’s box office or by calling 07719 877422.
