Trying to fill in the gaps on father’s life

editorial image

Do you recognise any of these three men in this photograph of the Machine Gun Corps taken during the First World War?

It is one of the few pictures Norman Riches of Desborough has of his father, Benjamin Augustus Riches, who lived in Kettering and Broughton.

Mr Riches says: “My father died in the 1940s, in a tragic road accident.

“He was a well known person in the area, once having a news agency business, working for Jack Cross, and running a dance band.

“I know very little about my father, and wondered if this picture of him and friends would throw any light on his life.”

If you have any information about the picture or Mr Riches father, please write to Retro, The Evening Telegraph, Newspaper House, Ise Park, Rothwell Road, Kettering, NN16 1GA.
