After a successful family fun day drew in more than 300 customers a pub recently reopened after a £300,000 refit is looking for more staff.

Hobson’s Choice in Pegasus Court, Kettering, is looking for between five and 10 experienced chefs and front-of-house staff after it was officially reopened by its Family of the Year, the Wilkinsons of Kettering, with a family fun day on Saturday.

Manager Daryl Chapman, 37, said: “It was fantastic. We took a lot of money, which is a good sign for us.

“It was a great atmosphere with the balloon modeller, face painter and juggler being pulled from pillar to post making models and showing children how to spin plates.”

The Wilkinson family, of Olympic Way, were chosen to re-open the pub after the refit, which has included new bathrooms, carpet, chairs, kitchen and outside drinking area, after they raised £1,000 for Birmingham Children’s Hospital, where son Jack underwent a life-saving operation for a one-in-15,000 liver disease.

More than 50 children attended the fun day.
