Budding musicians who fancy giving the guitar a go or trying out a trumpet are being invited to a free instrument taster session at a Harborough music shop.
ABC MH Music is once again hosting a Learn To Play Day next Saturday, March 16, at its St Mary’s Road shop.
Last year the shop ran a pilot event in co-operation with the Music for All organisation, the charity of the UK music industry.
The shop is offering free taster sessions led by qualified teachers with a large variety of instruments including acoustic and electric guitars, drums, saxophone, flute, clarinet, trumpet and cornet.
Shop owner Matt Hankins said: “The tuition is aimed both at new musicians and those wishing to return to playing.
“We will offer guidance on instruments, learning materialso, local teachers and organisations, rentals and interest free purchase.
“UK instrument manufacturers will also be supporting the event with staff, instruments prizes and special offers.”
The shop will also be welcoming a special guest on the day – Arthur Brown of The Crazy world of Arthur Brown.
Arthur is best known for his worldwide hit Fire and also because of the trademark flaming orb helmet he wears while performing.
He will be at the shop between 3pm and 3.30pm.
Mr Hankins said: “The charity is also proud to have partnered for the event with the Musicians’ Union, Arts Council England’s Take it Away scheme and MusicTeachers.co.uk.
“Those who attended the first learn to play day in 2011 will know this is a great day, not to be missed and there will be a warm welcome for all who attend at the store.”
