Kirsty Kennedy is one of 12 young women who will be competing to be named Miss Northampton.
Kirsty, 20, of Abbey Road, Wellingborough, will be fighting for the title at the final of Miss Northampton on Sunday at the Park Inn, Northampton.
She made it into the final 12 of the competition after receiving enough votes in an online vote.
Kirsty, a former pupil of Wrenn School and Wellingborough School, took part in the contest for the first time last year after previously taking part in the Miss Teen Queen competition.
At this year’s Miss Northampton final the girls will model an eco-dress which they have either borrowed, made themselves from old materials or bought from a charity shop.
Finalists have also been raising cash for the charity Beauty With A Purpose.
Kirsty said she had been busy with her fundraising and creating her dress.
She said: “I’m a little bit nervous, I don’t know what to expect. I’m nervously excited. I got to the final last year and it was a really fun day.”
Kirsty works at Select in the Swansgate Shopping Centre in Wellingborough and at Tesco in Turnells Mill Lane, Wellingborough, and said all her colleagues had been supportive of her bid to become Miss Northampton 2012.
The winner of Miss Northampton 2012 will win a host of prizes and a place in the Miss England semi-final, which will take place on May 30 at Champneys Springs, Leicestershire.
If she is a winner she will progress to the national final for a chance to win the Miss England 2012 title.
Miss England will qualify to compete to become Miss World.
