A woman from Woodford celebrated her 100th birthday this week with a family party.

Jean Eaves marked the landmark occasion with the gathering at Woodford Rose Cottage Residential Home.

Mrs Eaves was born in Coventry, where she attended school and worked as a coil winder for British Thomson Houston. She married her husband Arthur in 1933 in the city before moving to Northamptonshire to be close to her son Kim in 2000.

Mr Eaves, who was a tool maker for Armstrong Whitworth, died eight years ago.

She has three children, seven grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Her son said: “I hope her age is down to genes.”
