The busy road off the M1 was partially blocked following the collision after school

A school bus was involved in a collision on a major road near Daventry this afternoon (Friday).

Emergency services were called to the scene of the crash, involving a bus and a car, just before 3.45pm.

The A5 was partially blocked following the crash near Church Street south of Weedon Bec.

Children were reportedly collected from the scene and a large recovery truck assisted in towing the school bus away.

It is believed no one has been seriously injured in the incident, although ambulance crews did attend

A spokesman for Northamptonshire Police confirmed officers attended the collision but had no further details to add.

The crash scene was cleared before 6pm when the road was fully open to traffic.
