The vote will take place on November 26

The vote to decide which of Corby’s Church of Scotland churches will close has been delayed until late November.

The vote to decide which of St Andrew’s, in Occupation road, and St Ninian’s, in Beanfield Avenue, will close was originally scheduled to take place on October 11 but has been delayed due to a legal technical issue.

A Church of Scotland spokesman said: “The vote on the future of our churches in Corby, St Andrew’s and St Ninian’s, has been delayed in order to gather further information.

“The proposals will now be considered at a meeting on November 26, along with other presbytery matters.”

Once the decision is made, congregations at St Andrew’s and St Ninian’s will amalgamate with one building remaining and the other being sold off.

St Andrew's opened in 1938 to serve Scottish migrants who were making the town their home as the steelworks grew. St Ninian’s opened nearly 30 years later in 1967.
